State of the art activities

Since the date ECOVERDE S.p.A. was founded and started up (March 2001 – August 2006, when it was transformed from an S.p.A. to an S.r.l.) the company has carried out a series of activities that can be summarized as follows:

  1. production of general drawings of all components of the Green Island plant, both hard copies and CAD drawings,
  2. production of technical executive drawings for the creation of the plant, and in particular of the various sections of the machine:
  • container to receive the materials;
  • tubular weight-bearing structure for the machine;
  • executive project of the pulper to produce cellulose;
  • project and drawing of the dynamic external hoppers (no. 4 + four commands for pick-up) and internal hoppers (no. 4);
  • construction of no. 1 grinder for glass, with modifications made according to plant requirements, and all automation required along the entire route, including the control panel;
  • construction of no. 1 grinder for paper with structural modifications,
  • construction of no. 1 grinder for aluminum and iron with 1/2 division;
  • design and conception of a neodymium belt, modified according to the project requirements;
  • creation of a grinder for paper and a pulper with hydraulic system;
  • construction of the walkway structure.
The executive design for the entire project is now 80% complete.
  1. Construction of the first prototype for which, to date, the following have been created:
  • compost container (second production);
  • glass container (second production);
  • weight-bearing structure (second production);
  • hopper for treatment and processing wet product (second production);
  • water purification system (second production).

  • Paper section:
  • introduction of no. 3 pulpers in 316L steel with motors (second production);
  • introduction of pump to transfer cellulose paste;
  • application of grinder, with structural modifications;
  • blade valves;
  • opening with rotating pistons no. 2 x 0.3 with double-acting piston;
  • ink uptake system (DE.CO 1 lt/sec);
  • ink removal system;
  • pulp transfer system.
  • Glass section:
  • introduction of no. 3 pulpers in 316L steel with motors (second production);
  • automatic weighing system:
  • label brush system;
  • wash system;
  • grinding system;
  • collar and label uptake system;
  • Impianto di aspirazione collari ed etichette
  • elimination of ferrous materials;
  • system for pick-up from storage (being optimized).
  • Undifferentiated wastes section:
  • System with neodymium belt to separate ferrous and non ferrous metals from the wet parts;
  • Grinder for ferrous and non ferrous metals.
To date, the prototype has been 95% completed vs. the complete project.
  1. Running tests on materials obtained from the processing of some wastes (differentiated input into the prototype system) such as:
  • Running of suitability tests on the cellulose drawn from the pulping process (performed by CSA of Rimini), (third run with the analyses of the waters, sludges, cellulose obtained from paper, cardboard, coated and colored magazines, office paper, waste cardboard providing satisfactory results);
  • Glass extraction tests (eighth trial).
  1. Registration and filing of patent for the entire Green Island with BUGNION S.p.A. of Bologna (reg. no. BO2002A000394 dated 18.06.02) including use of technical innovations (registration in 64 countries outside the EU is being evaluated), currently protection has been filed in Russia and the United States.
  2. A new patent covering the system for searching out wet product.
  3. Acquisition of a license for a patented system for purification of the water used and separation of materials (currently being negotiated).
  4. Production of a document containing the costs/benefits analysis for waste collection service providers (if the “Green Island” system is adopted).
  5. Development of a business plan for creation of the factory to produce the “Green Island” plants.
  6. Start-up of market research to check what impact the “green Island” could effectively have on users/consumers and to evaluate in detail the market potential in order to provide the company with a solid base on which to develop its marketing plan. The investment borne by ECOVERDE s.r.l. (with its own means) to perform the activities related to the project.
