The Green Island plant optimizes the handling of U.S.W. both when waste collection is differentiated ― when the parties delivering the wastes (the general population) help to provide an advantage ― and when the product is undifferentiated.  The plant is, in fact, able to “automatically differentiate the wastes” and treat the U.S.W. as a "resource".
